OkCupid Debuts Voter 2020 Badge to Connect Singles This Election Cycle
As voting matters so much this year, OkCupid has launched a Voter 2020 badge that users can add to their dating profiles for the very first time. The hope is that it will help singles connect over the things they believe in.
Ever committed to empowering users to match with potential love interests based on the things that really matter to them, OkCupid analyzed their data and uncovered some interesting stats at the intersection of dating and voting in political elections. They found that users who list themselves as a registered voter are 63 percent more likely to find themselves matching with a potential partner and are 85 percent more likely to receive a message.
That’s all well and good, but if you still don’t think flexing your right to vote is a big deal in today’s dating world then you may want to sit down for this next stat. OkCupid found that over 500,000 of their users reported that they absolutely could not see themselves dating someone who didn’t vote.
“Now more than ever, daters want to connect with people who share their values,” said Ariel Charytan, CEO at OkCupid. “We have always empowered people to match on what matters to them, and our millions of daters across the United States overwhelmingly prioritize civic engagement when it comes to finding someone they are compatible with.”
Armed with this knowledge, OkCupid set out to create a solution to help encourage singles to come together — not divide — during these politically-charged times. With the release of the Voter 2020 badge, users can now more easily identify potential matches with the quality that matters so much to them.
How do you get one of these badges on your OkCupid profile, you ask? Users will begin seeing a new matching question that asks if you are registered to vote in the 2020 presidential election. Answer “yes” and the Voter 2020 badge will immediately be added to your profile to help you match with fellow singles that are equally proud of exercising their right (and power) to vote. Your profile will also be added to the Voter 2020 Stack so you can more easily match with fellow voters, launching on September 8.
Conversely, if you answer “no,” you’ll be redirected to a page where you can quickly and easily register so you have no problems getting your vote counted this Election Day.
OkCupid will also be launching an interactive 2020 Voter Report that’ll break down the hot topics that have singles concerned this election cycle, including prison reform, climate change, gun control and immigration. The report’s findings also include that registered voters are more likely to see compassion as a sign of strength, find intelligence sexier than looks and believe foreplay is necessary for good sex.
So go ahead and flex your sex appeal, study those talking points and get ready to hit the polls (or mail in those ballots) this November 3. After all, everyone deserves love no matter which side of the political aisle their beliefs may fall.
